Art Therapist

Suzanne Christoferson, ATR-BC, LPC is a board-certified art therapist, licensed professional counselor, artist and the owner of Art Therapy Explorations. Suzanne prides herself in providing a safe and welcoming haven for clients of all ages, abilities and needs. She works to guide clients to meet goals, achieve self-awareness, promote insight and find peace within their lives. She believes that each client is the author of their own story and the authority on themselves. She utilizes a person-centered, humanistic approach utilizing both verbal communication and art as a means of processing our thoughts and stories.

Suzanne explored working with diverse populations, in various settings throughout her journey. Past experiences include working in schools and group homes with individuals and groups with intellectual and physical disabilities. She has worked within a clinical inpatient psychiatric and detox unit and at a therapeutic camp for children and adolescents with social, emotional, and behavioral issues. She has provided services at a residential eating disorder treatment center. She has also facilitated substance abuse groups. Over the course of this journey, and currently, she works in private practice. Suzanne believes in the power of art therapy, as she has witnessed its ability to provide healing, insight and self-expression through the creation of art in the therapeutic process.
